Explanation of Mandatory Police Checks

In recent times it has become a legal mandatory requirement for all people working with children to undergo certain police checks. As Chaplains and Chaplaincy Team Members it is not uncommon to be called upon to minister to children and it is therefore necessary for us to comply with these mandatory checks.
Could you please read the following information and return to us (with your application) the necessary forms that are relevant to your situation:
1. Unpaid Chaplaincy Role:
If you are applying to become a Chaplain or Chaplaincy Team Member with Chaplaincy Australia but you are going to be in an unpaid role you are required to sign the ‘Prohibited Employment Declaration’ form (Attachment 4) and return it before your application can be processed any further.
2. Paid Chaplaincy Role:• If you are applying to become a Chaplain with Chaplaincy Australia and you are already a salaried Pastor or Chaplain within another organisation then you should have already signed a consent form to have a ‘Working with Children’ Check done. We will require you to provide us with a copy of this check before your application can be processed any further.
If you have not already consented to the ‘Working with Children’ check please discuss this with your Senior Pastor or the Chaplaincy Organisation with whom you are employed to get this organised and then provide us with a copy of this check so that we can process your application.
