Meet your workplace chaplain, Andrew Kahika.

Andrew has worked as a chaplain for more than 10 years supporting professional sports teams, schools and local churches. He has held roles as a club chaplain, personal development coach and youth and city care pastor.

A long term resident of south east Queensland, Andrew recently returned from Newcastle where he worked as a chaplain with the NRL Newcastle Knights from 2014 to 2019.

Andrew’s goal is to meet the emotional and pastoral needs of Council employees by offering assistance and referral to a wide range of services including drug and alcohol rehabilitation, loss and grief counselling, family counselling, financial advisory services, youth care programs, aged care services.

“I love being a chaplain because of the impact I get to have in people’s lives,” Andrew said.

“I don’t try to change people, but I listen as they share their journey and allow me to offer support and care when needed”.

Andrew is on-site at Council every Tuesday and every second Wednesday, offering free and confidential support to staff and their families. He is also available by appointment.
