QLD/NT Regional Chaplains

Our Network is supported by a fantastic group of Regional Chaplains located in each of the designated regions in QLD and the NT. Our Regional Chaplains are all active in Chaplaincy ministry and they are there to provide face to face support and encouragement to each of our Network Members.

If you haven’t been in contact with your Regional Chaplain in recent times, why not send them a quick email and connect!

They would love to hear from you; to join with you in celebrating the joys of chaplaincy ministry as well as providing any support needed.

Paul Koen is an ACC pastor and a credentialed chaplain. He is a Chaplain/NightWatch Team Leader for ChaplainWatch in Gladstone, a volunteer Chaplain & Welfare Ship-Visitor at Gladstone Seafarers Centre, an After Suicide Support worker, and a Community Chaplain. Paul has been working in the mining and refinery industry for many years and understands the people in his community.

He said, “One of my highlights as a Chaplain is to visit the seafarers onboard the cargo vessels and to spend time with the crew by listening, connecting, and giving support as they haven’t been home for months as they are not allowed to get offshore at any port in the world due to Covid restrictions. They often request prayer and to see their friendly smiles are priceless. This allows me to reach out to a bigger community that doesn’t have the privilege to attend a church service.”

Paul would love to connect with you in Central Queensland to enlarge, encourage and support your chaplaincy ministry.

Leanne Kelly

Leanne Kelly

Transport Sector Leader

Phone: 0412 834 484
Leanne loves caring for people and is passionate about the transport industry. She started Driving Trucks at 18 and now nearly 40 yrs later is diving Road Trains and A Doubles based out of Queensland’s Gateway to the Darling Downs, and Toowoomba.
She took a break from driving for a few years and focused on her other passion.. caring for people who are sick and vulnerable. As an AIN she specialised in palliative care, high-end care, and aged care, but the craving to get back behind the wheel got the better of her.
Realising her heart is still for hurting people, no matter what the cause, she found a way to combined chaplaincy and truck driving. She has lived experience with domestic violence, depression, family breakdown, fatigue and drug-related issues, through a variety of life experiences. Nevertheless, God has guided her through and now has called her to minister to those who are broken.
She is now blessed as a Transport Industry Chaplain, combining both Transport and caring for people. Her ministry is mostly listening, caring and praying for other drivers who are lonely, isolated, and struggling with life. She spends a lot of the time on the phone doing these things, as she drives full time.

She has a small farm, consisting of dogs and horses, and she uses that space for her self care and downtime. Leanne is self-professed as being a bit rough around the edges but knows that this works perfectly for the industry that she is in. Leanne wears her heart on her sleeve, is open and honest, and is keen to offer support to those wishing to get into the transport industry.
